STEM A Level & GCSE Pathways
What do we mean by STEM pathways?
"STEM pathways" at LMSC are structured routes through GCSEs and A Levels (and selected BTEC programmes) that keep doors open to degrees and careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and related fields.
For many students, the challenge is not just choosing individual subjects, but understanding how those choices fit together over time. We help you plan a coherent pathway — from pre-16 or GCSE level, into A Level or Level 3 study, and onwards to university or professional training.
Our approach helps you:
Align subject choices with future degree goals
Balance ambition with realistic, sustainable workload
Understand typical British entry requirements for STEM degrees
GCSE curriculum and pre-16 preparation
Core GCSEs for STEM
- • Mathematics
- • Combined Science or separate Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics)
- • English Language (and sometimes English Literature)
These subjects are essential for most STEM pathways.
Optional GCSE subjects
Depending on your situation, you might also study subjects such as Computer Science, Business or a language. We'll help you decide which options add value for your future goals.
